RENGO's Action against Bad Credit Dealing and Restoration of Financial Institutions ; Throughout Information Disclosure as Precondition

RENGO, at its 13th Central Executive Committee on 4 Aug. 1998, concluded the action guideline against the bad credit dealing by the financial institutions and restoration of those. RENGO resolved to request in the Diet to execute throughout information disclosure and immediate and fair dealing of bad credit.

GS Commented on Worst 4 Consecutive Months Unemployment Rate in History

The Management and Coordination Agency denounced this June's unemployment rate. The rate of 4.3% has renewed the worst record in 4 consecutive months from March's worst rate since the beginning of the survey in 1953. RENGO immediately released its General Secretary's comment that the new Obuchi administration should take measures for economic recovery, employment security and generation.

2,500 in Hiroshima Peace Rally for nuclear abolition

RENGO held the 98 RENGO Hiroshima Peace Rally on 5 Aug. 1998, at Hiroshima Welfare Pension Hall under the joint auspices of two antinuclear organizations (Kakukinkaigi and Gensuikin). The 53rd memorial anniversary of the atomic bomb attack was attended by 2,500 people. The plea of true peace by nuclear abolition was sent to the world from Japan, the sole nation which suffered from nuclear attack. The rally was also associated by 5 trade union leaders from India and Pakistan, those steamrollered the nuclear testings.

RENGO Protested : Government's Submission of Arbitration Judgment to Diet is Against ILO Recommendations

The Central Labor Committee submitted the arbitration judgment on wage rise of government enterprises on 24 June 1998. The government admitted the full practice on printing and minting sectors by the cabinet. However, the cases on postal services and forest sectors were delayed to the Diet approval by invoking the article 16 of the Government Enterprises Workers Act on 28 July. RENGO, on the same day, released General Secretary's comment that government 's attitude as ILO recommendation violation.
