First ILO New Declaration Symposium in 50 Years
More Appeals to Eradicate Child Labor

On November 26, at the Tokyo YMCA, RENGO held a symposium promoting the first New ILO Declaration declared in 50 years. The symposium was divided into two parts, the first on "Meanings and Problems of the New ILO Declaration," and the second on "Universal Eradication of Child Labor." The 120 participants at the symposium included members from RENGO, the Ministry of Labor, the Diet, the Japan Federation of Employers' Associations (Nikkeiren) and other organizations.

Nationwide PR Campaign Underway
2nd Intensive Action for Organization Expansion

RENGO has vigorously developed its organization expansion drives in accordance with Industrial Federation headquarters, its local organizations, and including 12 priority areas from 47 local RENGO nationwide. As part of its campaign for the 2nd intensive action for organization expansion (November 30 - December 4) RENGO staged a public promotion on the streets of Otemachi and Kanda-Ogawamachi on November 13 and December 3, with RENGO President Washio and Secretary General Sasamori presiding.

Labor Union Act Situation Lamentable
National Meeting for Organization Expansion

Clearing the way for organization expansion, RENGO convened its "National Drive for the Strengthening of RENGO Organization Expansion in Nagoya" on November 24 - 25. 300 people from affiliated unions and local RENGO organizations who were associated with the organization drive enthusiastically gathered with at a hotel in Nagoya. The slogan was "Zeal and Action-A Challenge for Organization Expansion." Those in attendance at the meeting searched for concrete solutions for urgent organizational problems through sharing experiences and opinions.
