Small Businesses Loans From Labor Bank Possible
Part of Credit Crunch Countermeasures

In order to protect the labor and living standards of small to mid-sized businesses suffering from the credit crunch, RENGO has sought reform of the system, which allows loans from the Labor Bank. To address this matter, the Labor Bank Association along with the Ministry of Labor and other related ministries and agencies have examined the necessary requirements arriving at a settlement that clears the way for laborers' bank business financing to help stabilize labor.

Central Rally Held To Implement Demands

RENGO, seeking economic relief and employment measures, held its "2nd Central Rally to Implement Demands" at the Tokyo International Forum on December 11. Secretary Generals of each of the five opposition parties, the Democratic Party, Komeito, the Liberal Party, the Social Democratic Party, and the Reformers' Network declared their resolve to express RENGO demands to the Diet.

Protests Against US/Russian Subcritical Experiments
Angry Rallies At Both Embassies

On December 11, RENGO, RENGO Tokyo, the Japan Congress against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs, and the National Council for Peace and Anti-Nuclear Weapons held a joint rally protesting subcritical experiments conducted by Russia and the United States. Approximately 250 people gathered in front of each embassy to strongly appeal against repeating past mistakes.
