Rengo/Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry high level meeting discussed the countermeasures for economic recovery

The top leaders of Rengo and Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), including Rengo's Presidents Mr. Washio and TCCI's Chairman Mr. Inaba met in Tokyo on 6 March 1998. This was the first meeting in three years. They frankly exchanged ideas on a serious economic trend and structural problems of small and medium enterprises. They agreed that they would, if possible, cooperate in taking a concrete action for economic recovery and would continue holding such meeting in future.


Rengo meets National Central Association of Small and Medium Enterprises' Organizations

On 4 March 1998, President Washio and other Rengo's top leaders met the representatives of National Central Association of Small and Medium Enterprises' Organizations in Tokyo. They exchanged opinions about the current economy, in particular conservative loan policy of banks. They agreed to take a joint action in a common area, such as in making demands toward the Government.


Collective Agreement for equality
(6 March 1998)
On 6th March Rengo held the 1998 Spring Struggle and International Women's Day Rally in Tokyo. About 1,000 including Kanto local Rengo took part in, and lively discussed on improving women's employment and working conditions.

Rengo showed a film produced by Rengo Women's Department at the opening. Then General Secretary Sasamori stated that it was a big problem of the national existence to put women ability to practical use and expressed the reinforcement for tackling women problem.

Vice President Ms. Morooka, Professor Higuchi of Tokyo Kasei University and Vice President Mr. Nagumo participated as panellists in a panel discussion, where Professor Higuchi stated "Let's improve the mind of men and women and welcome prosperous 21st century."
