G-S urged on Gov't drastic change for economic policy

The government decided the General Economic Plan amounting 16 trillion yen and finalized the guideline of the Financial Institutional Reform Law on 24 April. In response to this, Mr. Sasamori, Secretary-General of RENGO, criticized, on the same day, the government not to admit the policy failure but to avoid the criticisms. G-S also requested the drastic turnabout of policy for the economic recovery.



Government announced Worst Unemployment Rate
(1 May 1998)
On 28 April, the Management and Coordination Agency of the government announced that the unemployment rate of this March struck 3.9% which was the worst in history. RENGO immediately released a G-S's remark, which urged on employers and the government considerable effort and support for the stabilization and security of employment.
