An Outrage against Peace
RENGO protested to India for its conduction of nuclear test
(22 May 1998)

RENGO, at the 9th Central Executive Committee on 14 May, adopted a special resolution that protested to India's nuclear test. The summary of the special resolution is as follows;

 India, on 11 May followed on 13 May, had conducted the underground nuclear explosions. We had a protest meeting against the nuclear test in front of the Embassy of India in Tokyo, and claimed to the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Vajpayee and urged India to stop nuclear weapons development immediately. Against the condemnation throughout the world, India steamrollered its second underground nuclear test. That was nothing but an outrage against peace. India's nuclear test made a big negative impact to the effect of Comprehensive Treaty to Ban the Test (CTBT) and to the organizations and individuals in many countries who yearn for nuclear disarmament. India is strongly requested to stop its underground nuclear test with immediate effect and its program of nuclear weapons development. Upon Indian choice, we confront and protest seriously by all means.
