photoIt has been ten years since the historical unification of the labor front, the birth of RENGO. RENGO held the 24th Central Executive Committee Meeting on May 20 and decided to implement the following seven events in commemoration of its 10th anniversary. The following plans were presented to the committee via a total of eight discussions at the "RENGO 10th Anniversary Event Planning Committee" and the "RENGO 10th Anniversary Event Activities Committee" established in December 1998.

1) Basic Ideas for the Planned Events

  • Events should not have a one-time carnival-like atmosphere.
  • Events should be conceived from the standpoint of the labor union and labor movements.
  • Events should be well balanced and realistic in terms of "people, materials, money."
  • Events should be planned not only with headquarters sponsorship in mind, but also including constituent and/or local RENGO in the planning nucleus.
  • Events should appeal from a social, cultural and national point of view.
  • Events should gain the support and sympathy of union members.
  • Events should illuminate the bright prospects of the 21st century without dwelling on the past.
