The 21th Central Executive Committee Meeting
"Break Through Job/Living Standard Threatening Danger" "Change Govt."
We Don't Need This Sort of Govt.! 10 Million Members Mass Action

Round of Activities at Local RENGO Start from May Day
(20 April 2001)

In the midst of rising anxiety over job and living standards facing our comrade workers, RENGO held the 21st Central Executive Committee Meeting on the 12th and endorsed its "We Don't Need This Sort of Government! 10 million Furious Members Nationwide Mass Action." By designating May as a National Mass Action Month, RENGO will initiate a round of actions at local RENGO and local councils under the banner of "Break Through Job/Living Standard Threatening Danger," "Victory at the House of Councilors Election," etc.

1. Action Proposal
RENGO with the banners of "Break Through Job/Living Standard Threatening Danger," "Stop Money for Power Corrupt Politics," "Victory in the House of Councilors Elections" and "Change in Administration" will designate May as national mass actions month and implement continuous actions at local RENGO and local councils. Further, on May 26, RENGO will hold national unified actions and a large-scale central rally in Tokyo.

2. Aim
As job anxiety becomes ever more serious, even extending to the employed, the removal of job fears has become a priority for both social stability as well as economic recovery. Fears over pension, medical care and other costs have been hit working citizens head on so that breaking through the dangers threatening work and family life is a vital topic that must be resolved for all working citizens. Furthermore, citizen's anger over structural corruption and money for influence politics through unsavory co-dependence among the political community, bureaucracy and industry has peaked.
In order to answer the expectations of the working citizens RENGO will fight the above actions on a national scale continuing with a series of mass rallies in February, March, and April. Further, by using the success of these mass actions as a path to victory at the House of Councilors election, we must dissolve the House of Representatives and hold general elections in order to bring about a change of administration.
