On February 6th, RENGO held its "2002 Spring Struggle/Differential Correction Forum" in Tokyo, to correct differentials in labor conditions for workers in micro small to mid-sized businesses and part-time workers. Of the 150 participants who gathered at the forum, most were from the 33 affiliated organizations registered with the RENGO Small to Mid-sized Unions Joint Struggle Center and other members came from local RENGO. Everyone exchanged information and opinions discussing their perspectives on the issues that must be conquered in order to improve labor conditions that will be realized by fair business relationships.

Representing the sponsors General Secretary Kusano offered a speech that appealed for "correction of various differentials including size as our one of main issues. To do this, we should realize wage curve maintenance. Times are tough, but let us keep our sprits up and work together for it."
Small to Mid-sized Unions Joint Struggle Center Representative Hattori followed, emphasizing the importance of activities to correct differentials stating, "there is no way to limit the widening gap in differentials. It is essential that we review labor-management and labor-labor relationships along with improving the social system."
Representatives from five industrial federations gave reports on actual conditions and activities and a general discussion followed. During the discussion it was noted that not only was strengthening restrictions through antitrust laws important but also creating activities to build a safety net.
The forum was closed after the following appeal was adopted "Differential correction is a longstanding issue. Let us continue to make steady progress no matter how slow."
