International Forum on Child Labor

RENGO held an International Forum for Child Labor (session one was held in Yokohama, session two in Tokyo) on May 26-27. Taking advantage of its position as co-host of the World Cup Games, the forum was designed to uncover the real conditions of child labor in soccer-related industries (balls, shoes, apparel, etc.) in Asian countries and initiate actions aimed at the eradication of child labor from Japan to the world. Representatives at the forum came from international labor organizations and labor unions from India and Pakistan and other industry-based world labor federations. In addition to reporting on the actual conditions of child labor, there was also discussion of the necessity for the eradication of poverty, and the edification and education activities
