On October 28, the 43rd House of Representatives election was announced and the twelve day campaign leading up to the November 9th Election Day began.

That day in the unfortunate rain at TokyoÁs Ogikubo Station, RENGO President Sasamori along with Secretary General Okada of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) and others strongly pleaded to listeners by saying, ËWe are certain that the administration will change with this election. Since its inauguration, the Koizumi cabinet has demonstrated virtually no record of positive change. How long do they intend to let Japan mire in this condition?

Out of the 32,000 people who commit suicide annually, it is said that 8,000 kill themselves for economic reasons. Is there any other nation on earth like this? Koizumi said that he would destroy the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) but what he is really destroying is Japan itself. We must change this cabinet with every single ballot in the next election. LetÁs begin making that change in Tokyo!Ó

Riding in the same street campaign bus, DPJ Secretary General Okada called on listeners saying, ËThis election is about a choice of administrations. Have the reforms of the Koizumi shown any progress? At this rate, our nation has no future. LetÁs break down the wall of vested interests.Ó
